Alright, I’m a guy… but Tank Girl’s my fucking hero. It really hit me when I found graffiti of her throughout Spain, including on bulletin boards. There was even a museum exhibit in Madrid. This, by the way, was smack dab in the middle of the time when it looked like Tankie’s storyline was dead… that the world would be forever without the most awesome alcoholic, tankhopping, chain-smoking ass kicker it had ever known. The influence this campie rogue bounty hunter wields is nothing less than the inspiration and empowerment of at least two generations. Now, after more than a decade in what seemed oblivion… . Tankie’s back. . Booga’s back. . and at least one of the original creators from Team Tankie (Alan Martin) is on-deck and manning the guns.

For just over a year now, Tankie has been gracing the Suicide Girls site and an actual official site for the Queen of Punk has grown out of the post-apocalyptic rocks of the Internet. Needless to say… it’s on. Every Friday here on Burn as One is Tank Girl Day. I’ve scoured Flickr and deviantART for whole piles of artwork inspired by Mizz Heavy Weaponry and will post a new piece each Friday. Do you have art you’ve created that’s inspired by Tank Girl?
